Golden Horizons - Tara Thomas Luncheon

Date: 5/9/2012
Time: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Location: Jesup, Iowa
Details:

Join us at the Farmers State Bank branch in Jesup to enjoy a casual lunch and meet KWWL news anchor Tara Thomas. She will speak during the lunchoen about her career path to KWWL.

Thomas is as much a mommy blogger as a news anchor. Since the birth of her second child in 2008, she has connected with hundreds of eastern Iowa parents through her blog, Baby Steps.

TV news has given her the opportunity to come full circle. Growing up in Peoria, Illinois, she went out east to Boston University then started her career closer to home at KIMT in Mason City. An anchor/producer job at KIMA in Yakima, Washington, took her to the Northwest for nearly 7 years. KWWL gave her the chance to return to Iowa in 2002.

She is the only non-educator in her family. Her father is a retired superintendent, her mother is a retired elementary principal and her only sibling, Sara, is a second grade teacher. Her husband is a teacher, too!

She says her family and my faith keep her "real" in a multi-media environment. Facebook and Twitter are a part of her free time, but so are church and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. She has been with her "little" for six years.

At KWWL, she co-anchors the KWWL News Live at 5, KWWL News at 6 and KWWL News at 10 with Ron Steele. Health Plus is her weekly featured report.

Reservation deadline is May 2. Cost is $10/person
