The championship match for Duroe Cup II was contested Thursday, March 21. The top six scorers from the regular season qualified for the playoffs: Kelli, Luke, Kate, Ross, Hackman and Grant. The event returned to the traditional venue, the Carnoustie (aka CarNASTY) Championship routing which provided a proper test for the competitors.

The six played nine holes, with the two lowest net scorers qualifying for the final match. Kelli, who dominated the regular season, continued her strong play and qualified along with Ross, who beat out Grant by 0.1 strokes.

The scene was set, Kelli v. Ross, nine holes of net match play for the Duroe Cup. The tension was real, Luke and Grant stepped into honorary coach / caddy roles, Rod stepped in as DJ featuring heavy dance / Latin vibes.

Kelli took hold of the match early and was 2 up with three holes remaining. With his back against the wall Ross called upon his thunderous 3 iron, rifling approach shots from 250 yards on each of the last three holes with the same club. The quality of these three golf shots cannot be understated. He won all three holes to overcome the deficit and defeat Kelli by a 1 up margin to win his first Duroe Cup.

It was another excellent year of sim golf for all participants and we will plan to have more fun next season. If you are interested in joining the league or learning more, ask somebody!
